From October 13th to 15th, 2022, the XXVIII SPO Congress took place at the Cupertino Miranda Foundation (Porto), bringing together two hundred participants, including orthodontists and other dental professionals, who had the opportunity to attend a diverse and innovative scientific program, under the central theme “Orthodontics in interdisciplinary rehabilitation – new approaches”.

This edition of the congress, under the guidance of dentist and professor Teresa Pinho, was designed to broaden perspectives on orthodontics “based on the growing need for a greater understanding and mastery of techniques and practices,” according to the aforementioned president of the organizing committee.

The meeting brought together the most prominent opinion leaders (national and international) in orthodontics and other disciplines of dentistry, under a program that emphasized a multidisciplinary approach. Topics of great relevance were addressed, “always based on scientific evidence and sharing knowledge that is fundamental to facing the daily challenges of our clinical practice,” Teresa Pinho emphasized.

The pre-congress course was led by two prominent international speakers: Arturo Vela and Alicia Megia. Continuing education is, moreover, a crucial area in orthodontics. “Promoting training and research for skills development should always be one of our priorities,” stated Teresa Pinho.
