XXXI SPO Congress
October 23-25, 2025 • Aveiro
Orthodontics from 8 to 80
A huge success for national orthodontics.
The 31st Congress of the Portuguese Society of Orthodontics took place from October 23rd to 25th, 2025, at the Casa da Cultura in Ílhavo — with a Pre-Congress Course on the 23rd — and reaffirmed itself as a landmark in the orthodontics landscape in Portugal. The event brought to the national community — and to many colleagues attending for the first time — the most relevant developments in the specialty today, with a high-level scientific program, bringing together prestigious national and international speakers.
Thanks to the participation of new businesses and numerous professionals, the congress exceeded expectations and strengthened our network for collaboration and knowledge sharing. For many, it was the ideal opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the country, exchange experiences, and stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and approaches in orthodontics.
The panel of speakers included several leading experts, among them: Sandra Tai, Steffen Decker, Montserrat Puigpinós, Teresa Sobral Costa, Vinicius Schau, João Cerejeira, Vicente Torres, Iciar Llaca, Teresa Cobo Díaz, María Noel Strada, Mariana Magalhães Maia, Pedro Cabeça Santos, Manuel Poveda Saénz, and Paulo Fernandes Retto.
Topics such as orthodontics from childhood to adulthood (“from 8 to 80”), early interventions with aligners, complex treatments, hybrid orthodontics — combining analog and digital approaches — and other cutting-edge topics were at the center of the discussions. The breadth of the program reflected the diversity and modernity of the specialty.
Once again, the SPO demonstrates its ability to bring together knowledge, promote excellence, and drive the progress of orthodontics in Portugal. To all who were with us—speakers, participants, new members, commercial firms, and the organizing team—our sincere thanks.
It was, without a doubt, an event that reinforces the community’s commitment to quality orthodontic care and continuing education.
